PreSonus StudioLive 16.0.2

Compact live desk

What is it?A compact, 16-channel portable digital mixer for touring bands, clubs, houses of worship and small venues. DetailsOccupying a footprint of less than 0.19 sq.m, the StudioLive 16.0.2 offers eight mono input channels plus four stereo channels and incorporates twelve XMAX Class-A solid-state mic preamps. Said to employ the same workflow and easy-to-use mixing surface as the larger StudioLive desks, the 16.0.2’s Fat Channel processing section provides panning, phase reverse, high-pass filter, compressor, limiter, downward expander plus 3-band semi-parametric EQ for every channel, every auxiliary, the two onboard effects outputs and the main bus. It also offers extensive LED metering, mixer save/recall and channel-strip save/recall/copy/paste functions.
The design offers high-headroom, 32-bit floating-point processing and 24-bit, 48 kHz digital converters with 118dB dynamic range. The dual, programmable, stereo, 32-bit floating-point effects processors are loaded with reverb and delay presets and assigned to dedicated FX buses. Like the 16.4.2, the StudioLive 16.0.2 comes with a “tightly integrated, state-of-the-art software suite” comprising Capture, Studio One Artist recording and production software and Virtual StudioLive bidirectional control software. Unlike the larger model, the 16.0.2 incorporates MIDI input and output ports offering control over key mixer parameters. The StudioLive 16.0.2 can also be wirelessly controlled from an Apple iPad running PreSonus’ SL Remote, available free from Apple’s App Store. By setting up a wireless network between the iPad and a Mac or PC running VSL, the SL Remote will control VSL, which in turn controls the StudioLive mixer.
