PLASA showfloor now 85 pc booked

Audio looks set to be particularly well-represented at this September's PLASA Show, with Bose returning after a break and confirmation of attendance from Harman, Midas, Sennheiser and many others.

Event organisers report a “surge” of audio companies committing to stand space at PLASA 2010. Adamson, Allen & Heath, AXYS, DiGiCo, Electro-Voice, Harman, JoeCo, KV2, Midas, Nexo, Ohm UK, Polar Audio, Roland, Sennheiser, Shure, Trantec and Yamaha are among the brands to have booked for this September’s event, while Bose will return after several years’ absence.

PLASA’s Ruth Rossington tells PSN-e that 85% of the showfloor is now fully booked, with sufficient expressions of interest to take the event “very close” to a sell-out. In total, it is expected that in excess of 300 companies will appear, more than a third of which will be audio specialists.

“The upsurge in audio is essentially a combination of factors,” says Rossington. “We’ve been actively engaging with a wide range of audio companies to ensure we fully meet their needs and are part-way through a campaign to increase the key industry buyers and specifiers attending the show. We’ve also put a focus on some of the main audio issues out there at the moment – the new EN54 Directive being a prime example – and of course there’s a renewed confidence in the market, so we’re seeing the return of audio companies who unfortunately weren’t able to participate last year as well as a significant number of new audio companies coming through, combined with a return by some who have been absent from the showfloor for a significant number of years.”

Explaining the decision, Bose Professional Systems’ divisional manager, Simon Holley, commented: “We feel that the time is right to demonstrate our positive commitment to the pro-audio market. We have some exciting new products in the developmental stage, so this year is all about establishing new contacts and building on existing relationships to create a strong foundation from which to move forward. We are delighted to join so many strong brands at what should be a tremendous show.”

Meanwhile, following an appearance on Red Square Audio’s stand last year, Tannoy has booked a stand in its own right for 2010. Communications manager Mark Flanagan remarked: “As a UK manufacturer, PLASA is always a key point on our calendar as our ‘home event’, and we’re delighted to have consolidated our presence at this year’s show. Exhibiting alongside our sister brands Lab.gruppen, Lake and TC Electronic – under the TC Group International umbrella – we’re looking forward to engaging directly with our customers, showcasing our successful VQ and V Series lines next to Lab.gruppen’s acclaimed power amplifier and powered loudspeaker management systems…it makes perfect sense for us.”

PLASA 2010 will take place at Earls Court, London, from 12-15 September. Stay tuned to PSN-e for product previews and company announcements as the event draws closer.
