Ohm: UK sales double, new line of loudspeakers

It’s been a great Autumn of Ohm: UK quarterly sales have doubled as they introduce the Total Clarity line of loudspeakers; the result of one of their biggest R&D projects in years.

Following the appointment of Northampton-based Impact as its exclusive UK distributor, Ohm is reporting that quarterly UK sales have doubled compared to the same period last year. John Oakley (pictured, centre), Ohm UKs recently-appointed general manager commented: “It was a big step for us to change from direct sales to distribution in the UK market. We spent time getting to know our colleagues at Impact and their business capabilities before we took this bold decision. Impact’s advanced warehousing, logistics and computer systems were attractive in themselves. However the clincher for us was the network of UK wide trade counters and ‘on the road’ sales executives. We also discovered that Impact has amazing marketing creativity which is now working to great effect for us.” Grant Lester (pictured, left with John Oakley and Impact’s Ralph Stockley), managing director of Impact added: “Taking exclusive UK distribution of the world famous Ohm brand was a big responsibility for us. John was very clear about the brief – rapid sales growth!” Both companies will be hoping the trend continues as Ohm introduces its new Total Clarity range of loudspeakers, designed for installation and mobile applications. The new line is the culmination of the company’s biggest R&D project for many years. Eleven new products have been developed, including seven full range cabinets and four subwoofers. The full range cabinets feature two wide dispersion models and three arrayable units. The subwoofers cover 15” to dual 18” designs, with the single 18” horn loaded subwoofer reaching down to 34Hz in coupled cluster arrangements.
In a final piece of Ohm-related news, the Llangollen International Music Eisteddfod once again relied on its loudspeakers – specifically the BR-8s provided by Wigwam Acoustics – for its annual festival. “At the Eisteddfod event everybody commented how much improved the outdoor sound was with the new Ohm loudspeakers. Wigwam have now used the BR-8s on four other outdoor events this year to great success. Thanks OHM for a great Loudspeaker,” said Wigwam’s David Hopkinson.
