What is it?A range of line array speakers for the touring, festival and rental markets.DetailsThe new STM system is said to combine the best of Nexo Alpha functionality with the technical innovation of its GEO waveguide designs in a “powerful, flexible, and easy to use system”. Scale Through Modularity (STM) technology allows line arrays to be scaled up or down according to audience size – from 1,000 to 100,000 people – using four discrete speaker elements: M46 main, B112 bass, S118 sub, and M28 ‘Omni’ modules. System configurations can comprise arrays of main cabinets only, or main plus bass or bass plus main plus bass. The ability to add extra bass cabinets to the system to increase power and headroom without introducing unwanted phase anomalies is said to make STM the first vertical array system to offer scalable low frequency coverage. Deploying the dedicated sub cabinets – either in the arrays or as ground–stacks – further increases the system’s options while the ‘Omni’ fill speakers are designed to complete the coverage pattern, whatever the scale of the system. The bass cabinet has a frequency response of 63Hz to 200Hz, overlapping that of the sub and main modules and providing a significant increase in LF headroom. The sub delivers a similar SPL to Nexo’s CD18 unit – using only a single 18” driver – and it’s possible to use two subs back-to-back in cardioid mode, or side-by-side in omnidirectional mode.STM Series main, bass and Omni enclosures are injection-moulded designs said to offer maximum durability and weather resistance. Using a range of dolly and bumper accessories, the system can be prepped in the warehouse, loaded onto dollies for transport and wheeled straight into a venue. PistonRig and REDLock rigging technology allows for one rigger to fly a 72-cabinet arena system with the minimum difficulty. STM cabinets are paired with the NEXO Universal Amp Rack (NUAR) which contains plug & play digital patches, real-time system monitoring and control network functionality in addition to two NXAMP 4×4s, which together can power up to 12 STM speakers, in groups of three. And another thing…Nexo is offering a choice of network card solutions for the STM. Along with the NXES104 EtherSound network control, the company has announced the new NXDT104 Dante audio plug-in card for the NXAMP, enabling the system to exploit the benefits of high-performance, AVB-ready digital networking.
