New shop promises Funkier Junk

Leading pro-audio supplier Funky Junk is opening a high street shop in north London in the New Year

In a bid to become even funkier, Funky Junk, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of new and used pro audio gear, is opening a mainstream high street shop directly opposite its existing premises in Hornsey Road, north London. Funky Junk the shop will stock an array of professional gear ranging from microphones, digital recording software and outboard processing gear, to accessories such as mic stands and cables; and is set to operate in tandem with Boffin island – Funky Junk’s demo facilities, console showroom and service department. The idea is to create a space where people can try out gear and talk pro audio til their hearts are content in a dedicated chilled-out environment. The shop will be open between 7am and 10pm Monday to Friday. Funky Junk’s owner Mark Thompson says that the new 800-square-feet shop is the icing on the cake to the existing Funky Junk facilities. “We sell more new high-end outboard around the world than anyone else in the UK and a lot of people don’t realise that,” explains Thompson. “There has been a demand for a mainstream shop where you can poke prod and feel the gear; and that’s the reasoning behind it.” Funky Junk now boasts a total of 4000-square-feet of showroom, workspace and shop; and Thompson says that equipment from many leading brands will be on show and demonstrated at the new store when it opens next month.
