New regional office for Tannoy

The new operation – headed up by Graham Lawton, pictured – will serve the needs of the Middle East market. The new office, operating at Tannoy Middle East, is based in the heart of Dubai’s Media City area and is described as a “significant and highly visible step” for the manufacturer as it continues to develop its presence in the region’s loudspeaker market.

Tannoy says that it has experienced steady and continued growth in the installed sound market throughout the region in recent years, pointing to a host of high-profile credits, including the Burj Khalifa, Atlantis Resort, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Mall, Yas Marina Hotel and Abu Dhabi Airport’s new Terminal 3.

Appointed to head up the new operation is Graham Lawton, who has worked throughout the Middle East since first arriving there in 1997. Prior to joining Tannoy, Graham previously worked for PMK International Consulting in its Dubai office, Northern Light (UK) and Glantre Engineering (UK).

The new office, said Lawton, “provides a base for us to develop new business opportunities in the local market as well as delivering even higher levels of support to our existing key customers. At a time when business in general has been challenging, it says a lot that Tannoy is bucking the trend, demonstrating that there are still serious growth opportunities in this region.”

Tannoy communications manager Mark Flanagan says that while Dubai was “the obvious choice of location for the office”, there is no doubt that plenty of business is being done elsewhere in the Middle East. Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Iran are all said to present “exciting growth opportunities” for Tannoy.

“Relationships can only be developed to such a point unless you demonstrate a commitment and establish a local presence, and only then can new business potential be realised,” Flanagan tells PSN-e. “Also, considering the higher levels of technical knowledge required with cutting edge audio technologies, it’s all the more important for us to offer on-the-ground support to our customers at an installer and integrator level, but also in providing a point of direct contact for clients, architects and consultants. This is something we’ve seen as being key to a dynamic market like the Middle East, particularly where large scale capital and infrastructure developments are concerned such as airports, business districts and leisure facilities.”
