MPG extends Awards nomination deadline

Recording professionals who want to be considered for a Music Producers Guild Award now have extra time to submit their nominations for the 2011 Awards.

The MPG has extended the deadline for nominations until 4 November, thereby giving more producers and engineers the opportunity to take part.

MPG Chairman Steve Levine commented: “Nominations for 2011 are already coming in fast and the fantastic response we have had proves just how important these Awards are to the music industry. Thanks to some careful schedule juggling, we’ve managed to create a little extra time so that anyone who hasn’t nominated a recording professional – or nominated themselves – now has the chance to do so.”

Nominating a worthwhile recording professional involves filling in a simple online form, which can be accessed by visiting Everyone can be part of this process as the nominations are open to anyone who wants to put a name forward. There is also no bar on nominating yourself and the Music Producers Guild is actively encouraging producers and engineers to do this.

The full list of categories is as follows: Outstanding Contribution to UK Music, Producer of the Year, Recording Engineer of the Year, Best Mastering Engineer, Best Mix Engineer, Best Live Album of The Year (2010), UK Album of The Year (2010), UK Single of The Year (2010), Best Re-mixer, The Joe Meek Award for Innovation in Production, Breakthrough Producer, Breakthrough Engineer, Best Studio, Best International Producer of the Year and Unsung Hero.

The 2011 Awards will be held in London in February. Once again, the Music Producers Guild is collaborating with the BRITS to present the winner of its Producer of the Year category with a BRIT Award for Best Producer.
