Midas experiments in the studio

Champ d’Action, an experimental music and sound laboratory based in Antwerp, Belgium, has chosen a Midas PRO2C as its main studio console.

Belgium based experimental music ensemble and contemporary music organisation Champ d’Action, has chosen a Midas PRO2C as its main studio console. Founded in 1988 by Antwerp composer Serge Verstockt, it was the first Flemish ensemble focusing entirely on contemporary music to receive an operating subsidy. It has occupied Studio 3 at the deSingel International Arts Campus, Antwerp for eight years, the former studio of regional broadcaster Radio 2 Antwerpen. Champ d’Action’s sound engineer Marc Dedecker (pictured), who is responsible for the technical specification of the studio, said he tested several digital consoles before deciding on the Midas PRO2C. “I chose the Midas because of its superior sonic performance, which is absolutely critical to my work at the studio.” “The surround features of the PRO2C work really well and the panning is superb,” continued Dedecker. “This, in addition to the stunning EQs and combined with the huge headroom, made my choice an easy one – a Midas PRO2C.” The console was supplied by The Audio Specialists BV, the authorized Midas and Klark Teknik distributors for BeNeLux. Axel Nagtegaal, director of The Audio Specialists commented: “Champ d’Actions sets the benchmark in their studio market and we wish Mark and his clients many memorable recordings!”
