Merging Pyramix

What is it?A digital audio workstation designed for post production, broadcast radio, multi-channel live music recording and CD/DSD mastering. DetailsThe latest versions of Pyramix incorporate Merging’s MassCore technology – real-time digital audio engine said to offer an increased level of processing and a much greater channel count. MassCore does not rely on the Windows operating system for the core mix-engine processing, thereby avoiding all its inherent restrictions and latency issues. It can be configured for as few as 16 or as many as 384 simultaneous live input and output channels at 48kHz with a 256-channel mix-buss structure. MassCore retains an almost infinite number of real-time editing (virtual) tracks with latencies said to be lower than any other Windows or Mac-based system. MassCore can also be configured to offer 192 simultaneous I/O channels at 96kHz, 96 channels at 192kHz and 48 channels in DXD (352.8 kHz) and DSD (1-bit 2.8MHz sample rate) for SACD production. MassCore is fully automated with freely configurable mix, buss and monitoring structures and allows Pyramix to retain all its real-time editing and processing capabilities. According to Merging, there are no software limitations on how many plug-ins can be assigned to a channel, how many tracks can operate at the higher sample rates or how many editing tracks can be used. Support is provided for OMF, AAF, XML, Final Cut XML, CMX-EDL, AES31, OpenTL, DAR and Pro Tools 5 format audio with digital I/O offering interfacingfor AES-EBU, TDIF, SDIF, MADI and ADAT/SPDIF daughter cards Pyramix is described as one of the most open systems on the market, able to play/record in virtually any audio format and can be mixed within the same time-line without conversion. The range of project and session interchange modules also allows Pyramix to integrate with most third-party DAW and NLE systems and it can be extensively configured to meet specific users’ needs. In addition to a broad range of customising options, Merging supplies software-specific application packs for post production, mastering, broadcast, and music environments.
