Memories in Music event draws near

Designed to provide a celebration of the musical history of the Midlands region, the charity-aiding Memories in Music event is scheduled to begin on 18 September at St Paul’s Gallery in Birmingham, UK.

The Memories in Music C.I.C. (Community Interest Company) exhibition event will be held at St Pauls Gallery in Birmingham from 18 September to 17 October, with proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Support and Task Brasil, which aims to recover the lives and help support abandoned children living on the streets of Brazil.

An array of prominent musicians from the Midlands area have contributed photographs, gold and platinum records, stage clothing and instruments for display. Bev Bevan is loaning a drum head and gold albums, Steve Winwood a number of personal photographs, and Trevor Burton stage clothes from The Move – among many other examples.

Fairport Convention, Raymond Froggatt, Albert Lee, Theo Travis and Judas Priest are among the other artists to have offered support and participation.

Memories In Music C.I.C. director Annie Hollinshead told PSNE: “Many of the items on display have never been exhibited before and we hope this will inspire music fans to attend. There is no auction component to the exhibit, but there will be some contests to enter, items on sale, and an entry fee (as yet undetermined) to benefit the charities. It’s really in the hands of the public how much we raise. We’ll be grateful for their support.”
