Mackie shipping DL1608, launching three new products

Mackie has begun shipping the DL1608 live mixer on the eve of a major launch. The company is introducing three new sound reinforcement products on 27 August that it says are “changing the shape of sound.”

On the eve of a major launch event to be held in Seattle, Mackie is now shipping the DL1608 compact digital live sound mixer, launched at Winter NAMM 2012. The company says the DL1608 is ‘a perfect complement’ to three new sound reinforcement products to be introduced on 27 August that are “changing the shape of sound.” The new products are, according to Mackie, “applying technologies that are common in the touring/pro-audio market, but never before seen in the MI market.” Meanwhile, in order to meet demand, Mackie has increased production capabilities and shipments of the DL1608. “We are extremely excited to get the DL1608 into the hands of musicians and engineers,” commented Ben Olswang, Mackie product manager. “We’ve been addressing customer interest with a series of video podcasts that go over all the cool features. Plus, the Master Fader control app has been fully updated with great new features that weren’t available in the preview version.”
Updates to the Master Fader app include the ability to store and recall plug-in presets, as well as snapshot/show capabilities to save and recall all aspects of any mix (with the excpetion of mic preamp gain).
The Mackie DL1608 combines the power of a full-featured digital mixer with the ease and mobility of an iPad. The mixer features 16 Onyx mic preamps, 24-bit Cirrus Logic AD/DA converters, and wireless control for up to 10 iPad devices allowing users to mix from anywhere in the venue. PSNEurope will be in Seattle on 27 August for Mackie’s new product launch; stay tuned to for news.
