L-Acoustics proving popular in Turkey

A number of L-Acoustics loudspeaker systems have been installed and deployed in Istanbul by its Turkish distributor, writes Paul Watson.

Elit Light & Sound Technologies, L-Acoustics’ Turkish distributor, has reported a spate of recent L-Acoustics installations and projects in Istanbul.

Technical production companies 911 Music and Pia Stage Technologies worked with Elit to provide sound and lighting for a concert featuring Buena Vista Social Club and Omara Portuondo at new Istanbul venue, the Ora Arena. A KARA line array system was deployed along with ARCS, SB18 and SB28 subwoofers, and 112Ps for monitoring. The majority of the system was driven by LA8 amplified controllers.

According to Hamid Nejatemin, partner of 911 Music, the only option for providing sound quality that would equal the listening experience of the band’s recorded music was by using L-Acoustics.

“The KARA system never disappointed us,” he says. “The 10-degree vertical, 110-degree horizontal angle enabled us to achieve equal sound at every point in the hall; and the line array created, an ‘in your face’ effect even at FOH, 50 metres away. The ARCS also took care of the blind spots.”

Instanbul bar-restaurant chain Bistro 33 has installed two L-Acoustics systems into its new premises: 108Ps and SB15P subs into 33 Bağdat Street; and four 8XTis and two SB18i subs into the Palladium Shopping Mall.

Finally, Giritli by Theo at Istanbul Suadiye, has installed four L-Acoustics 8XTs and two SB118 subs. All three systems are powered by LA4 amplifiers.
