K&F extends ProRental range

Kling & Freitag has strengthened its ProRental range with the introduction of the GRAVIS 12 system and the NOMOS LS subwoofer, writes Paul Watson.

Following a preview showing at this year’s Prolight+Sound, Kling & Freitag has introduced its compact and powerful new 12” full range GRAVIS 12 system and 1x 15” NOMOS LS subwoofer, expanding its ProRental range to cover a wider range of applications. The lightweight GRAVIS 12 (pictured) is housed in a compact enclosure with two different monitor angles. For the first time, the manufacturer’s in-house development VariPoint is used, which allows for quick pin fastening as well as an M10 fastening, compliant with the BGV C1 safety standard. Acoustically, the GRAVIS 12 is designed to provide a neutral, balanced reproduction, and it also boasts a sizeable 137 dB SPL. The GRAVIS 12 comes in two models (N and W), each of which has a different radiation angles. “GRAVIS 12 is much lighter and thinner than the former CA 1215; and is very easy to handle,” explains K&F’s Lars Heinrich. “A special feature for an economic setup is the possibility to run one GRAVIS 12 together with a NOMOS LS on one channel of the SystemRack, so it is possible to just use two channels for left and right and free up two additional channels.” NOMOS LS is K&F’s latest compact 1x 15” subwoofer, designed to complement the GRAVIS 12. K&F claims it delivers a dry and precise sound as well as plenty of power; and it is capable of going down as low as 33 Hz. The unit is also lightweight and has three VariPoints. “It is possible to build a cardioid sub system using three of the NOMOS LS subs with very high rear attenuation,” Heinrich adds, “which makes it easy to get the sound to where it should be.”
