DiGiCo: in demand in Denmark, and on tour

After visiting Victory Tour Production, DiGiCo’s Danish distributor Soundware ends up with an order – for the entire SD range. Meanwhile, former Million Dead frontman takes three console on the road, writes Erica Basnicki.

Kim Johansen – pro audio manager of DiGiCo’s Danish distributor, Soundware – frequently visits tour supply companies as part of his job. A visit to Victory Tour Production ended, surprisingly, with an order of no less than six DiGiCo desks, plus accessories. Victory Tour Production’s owner, Jesper Sørensen, reportedly couldn’t decide which SD console would be most appropriate for his company. Rather than choose, he purchased the entire range: An SD7, SD8, SD9, SD10 and SD11. The order was later embellished with an additional SD7 desk, an SD rack, and Optocore and Waves options for most of the consoles. One of the SD7s and the SD10 went immediately out on tour with Denmark’s Tim Christensen and the Damn Crystals. “I wasn’t surprised that Jesper wanted to invest in more DiGiCos as he has been using the consoles for some time and I know how much he values them,” said Johansen. “However, even I was surprised when he gave me the order. It just goes to prove that every console in the DiGiCo SD range is in demand in the Danish market.” In related DiGiCo news, former Million Dead frontman Frank Turner used thre DiGiCo desks – two DIGiCo D5s at FOH and an SD9 on monitors – for the sold-out Wembley Arena show with his band The Sleeping Souls. The desks were supplied by Newcastle-based Nitelites. “DiGiCo has always been good with us; our monitor engineer Johnny Stephenson and I did a great training day with them on the D5 a couple of years back and if we’ve had any problems or need advice on the road they are always willing to help,” said tour manager and FOH engineer Graham Kay.
