Community Professional dSPEC226

Speaker control and protection

What is it?A DSP designed to configure, control and commission sound system installations – from small to very large. DetailsEmploying both a high-speed SHARC DSP and a Xilinx Spartan FPGA, the dSPEC is said to offer a range of capabilities – plus a method of engineered workflow – not available on other DSPs. All dSPEC models feature 4-in x 6-out fixed-chain DSP architecture that includes 2 x 6 native analogue I/Os. Various expansion cards are available to provide two additional analogue inputs, two AES3 dual-channel digital inputs, or eight CobraNet inputs and outputs. Additional expansion cards will become available as new digital audio networking protocols gain market acceptance, reducing the cost for system installations that do not require a full array of I/O options. Said to be intuitive and easy to use, dSPEC requires no lengthy learning curve; users simply select from a library of Community loudspeakers and leave the DSP to do the rest, automatically assigning factory-recommended lo-pass and hi-pass filters, corrective equalisation (including 1024-points of FIR EQ via CONEQ), protective limiters, phase compensation – and more.
