Due to be introduced at Prolight+Sound next month, the Cadac DM1600 is based upon a proprietary DSP mix platform.
Cadac’s first budget digital console has been designed primarily as a live mixing console. An optional FireWire interface enables extensive recording capabilities, while 16-channel 19-inch rackmount expander modules provide for up to a 48 channel mix system. Console features include 16 motorised faders, hi-resolution TFT colour display and scene recall of all functions.
The specification also includes specially-developed ultra-low distortion EQ filters and analogue sounding compressors, 24-bit / 96kHz Delta-Sigma AD/DA converters, and four 4th generation 32/40-bit floating-point SHARC processors. Advanced EQ algorithms, using proportional-Q techniques, produce ‘smooth, musical’ adjustments, while the Central Assignment Module (CAM_ controls all input signals, groups, VCA groups, effects and auxiliary sends.
The central 7” hi-res colour TFT display shows detailed views of all parameters along with scene numbers, on-board effects editing and MIDI status.
Cadac will also show a number of other recent developments at PL+S. The LIVE1 compact analogue console will be exhibited in 16, 24 and 32 channel frame sizes, while the S-type live production console will be displayed in 17 and 33 channel frame sizes.
