The award was presented during the AES 128 European Convention, held in London last month. Held at Novotel London West, AES 128 incorporated the traditional exhibition and seminar programme, and brought notable product launches from the likes of Allen & Heath, Audio Precision, DK Technologies, eMerging and PMC.
The presentation to Sir George Martin took place at the culmination of this year’s European convention, which was previewed by PSN-e here.
AES executive director Roger Furness tells PSN-e: “At its 128th Convention in London last week, the AES was delighted to present Sir George Martin with an Honorary Membership of the society. Those who have previously received an AES Honorary Membership include Leonard Bernstein, Pierre Boulez, Walt Disney, and Herbert von Karajan and shows the high level of this award. The AES decided to give this award to Sir George Martin for his continued work in the field of recording sustained over a period of nearly six decades which is legendary. The award was presented on the last afternoon of the convention and the ceremony, which included a several minute standing ovation, was enjoyed by all who attended.”
An announcement about attendance levels for this year’s event and the AES’s plans for the next European convention is expected in the near-future.
