AC-ET offers a Shure solution

A.C. Entertainment Technologies (AC-ET) Ltd's audio division has supplied a large Shure UHF-R wireless microphone system to Universal Live, writes Paul Watson.

AC-ET’s audio division, A.C. Audio, has provided Universal Live, leading single-source production solutions provider to the live events industry, with more than 100 units of Shure UHF-R wireless equipment. The supply includes 48 Shure UR1 body pack transmitters; 32 Shure UR4D dual channel receivers; 18 UR2 hand-held transmitter mics with SM58 capsules; and another six with BETA 58s, along with all required distribution amps, antennas and cables. Universal has cased the receivers into four-way racks for portability and convenience, which can be daisy-chained together to suit the scale and size of the event. A.C. Audio’s Peter Butler co-ordinated the Shure UHF-R purchase with Universal’s technical director, Jon Eden, and hire manager, Ben Phillips, after advising them on the government’s compensation scheme for radio systems ahead of the digital switchover in 2012. “The Shure system fits our requirements perfectly, and the brand has proved extremely reliable over time,” says Eden. “The service is good and reliable from AC-ET and they will always try and help as much as possible when we need something ‘tomorrow’.” Universal works broadly in the corporate world, supplying production equipment to conferences, road shows, exhibitions, music concerts and tours, festivals and other events. The company rental stock features a range of premium brand equipment, and already included Shure products before the existing kit was replaced with Channel 38-compliant systems, which were sent out on projects for two leading blue chip brands as soon as they arrived.
