UK: The Virtual Katy Development-organised 'Future of Audio Post' summit took place at the Charlotte Hotel Room in London's Soho earlier this month. The invitation-only event afforded the opportunity for "a lively debate and discussion on new methodologies for our file-based workflow environment", writes David Davies.

The evening's busy schedule included a keynote speech from Virtual Katy Software founder/president John McKay and an industry panel session - billed 'The Cures for Today's Challenges' - chaired by Adrian Scott and drawing on the input of McKay, ADR recordist Peter Gleaves, feature dialogue/ADR supervisor Lee Herrick and audio editor/mixer Mike Prestwood Smith.

The event - which also incorporated a demonstration of the latest technology and workflows supporting new paths for post-production - culminated with a cocktail party.

"The rulebook has been tossed out and new guidelines need to be created," McKay told PSN-e recently. As such, the evening offered the opportunity to identify "new paths and new ideas that will help us take control and eliminate the post-production chaos".
