MEXICO: AES Mexico Section has announced that the 2008 International Latin American Convention will be held at the World Trade Center in Mexico City and be based around the theme of ‘New Concepts in Audio’. International speakers already lined up to appear include Geoff Emerick, Ed Cherney and John Meyer, writes David Davies.
Neumann technical director Stephan Peus, Digidesign live sound market manager Robert Scovill, recording engineer Craig Brock, mastering engineer Andr_s Mayo, Meyer Sound’s John McMahon and plug-in specialist Bobby Lombardi are among the other speakers scheduled to appear.
The convention programme – which will feature simultaneous translation to Spanish from English – will be complemented by an exhibition set to feature Neumann, Meyer Sound, Sennheiser, Midas, Shure, Dolby, SSL, Focusrite and Digidesign, among others.
“The AES Mexico Section is looking forward to hosting the 2008 AES Latin-American Convention and to meeting the Latin American and Spanish-speaking professional audio community from all over the world so that we can learn and raise the educational standards, as well as helping to grow the business
side and fortify the industry due to the technological and social changes we are experiencing,” AES Mexico Section chair Francisco Miranda tells PSN-e. “Following the huge success of last year’s Buenos Aires Convention, we have invited top industry professionals to give us their important lectures and
points of view under the subject ‘New Concepts in Audio’_ With this event we hope to grow the AES Latin American membership and have a good time exchanging our ideas and, most importantly, meet old friends and make new ones.”
The 2008 AES Latin American Convention will take place between April 27th and 29th.
