SWEDEN/UK: Lab.gruppen has announced that an agreement which saw Sennheiser UK distribute its products in the UK market for over two years is coming to an end. The Swedish manufacturer – which is due to start sending out the latest additions to its C Series line “en masse” on February 19th – acknowledged Sennheiser’s “hard work” on behalf of its products, reports David Davies.
Lab.gruppen expects to make an announcement about its future plans for distribution within the UK market “in the very near future”. In the meantime, Sennheiser UK will continue to supply Lab.gruppen products.
Commenting on the decision, Claus Behrens – Lab.gruppen’s European sales manager – said that the manufacturer’s increasingly diverse product range necessitated a different approach. “I would like to thank Sennheiser UK for the hard work they have done in developing the Lab.gruppen brand in what is undoubtedly one of the most competitive markets in Europe,” he stated. “But with our ever-expanding and more diversified portfolio of products we feel the need to get more directly involved with the UK market and are therefore working on a distribution solution that will allow this approach.”
Meanwhile, Lab.gruppen MD Tomas Lilja tells PSN-e that 2007 has got off to a very strong start. “Even though sales are well up on expectations, the forward planning and efficiency of our manufacturing operations team has allowed them to rise to the occasion,” he says. “And our engineering and product management groups are also delivering on or ahead of targets. We set some tough deadlines for the introduction of the new FP+ Series and C Series line extension products, and all have been achieved or surpassed. 115 V versions of all FP+ [products] are now shipping (now including the FP 10000Q 4 x 2500 WPC and FP 13000 2 x 6500 WPC models), and the four new C Series line extension models are due to be leaving the factory en masse beginning 19th February.”
He adds: “We felt that it would be hard to expand on the achievements of 2006 but the signs so far are that, through the efforts of all at Lab.gruppen and our loyal distributors and customers old and new, we’re on our way to an historic year.”
Minus Lab.gruppen, Sennheiser UK’s distribution portfolio will still include Neumann, Klein and Hummel, DAS and a number of other well-established brands.
