FRANCE: The seminar programme for 2009 has been designed for technicians and mixing engineers, writes David Davies. The sessions - to be held at L-Acoustics in Marcoussis in both French and English - will encompass the fundamental aspects of Wavefront Sculpture Technology (WST), system integration, set-up and design.

In other news, L-Acoustics has confirmed two significant new appointments, including a new UK technical manager.

L-Acoustics systems that will be covered in the seminars include KIVA, dV-DOSC, KUDO and V-DOSC. The sessions will also address the LA amplified controller platform and the LA Network Manager software.

The training events offer a blend of theoretical knowledge (day 1) and field procedures (day 2), which allow the operation of WST systems in a safe and controlled environment. In addition, system seminars can be extended to a third day dedicated to the SOUNDVISION 3D simulation software.

L-Acoustics' St_phane Ecalle tells PSN-e: "The L-Acoustics education programme has always been a cornerstone of the network for the legacy V systems. L-Acoustics is redeploying the concept of Rental Network to the new K standard (KUDO and future K1) in addition to the existing 'V' standard. Training in the domain of theoretical aspects, sound design, system set-up, rigging and tuning is at the cornerstone of the new L-Acoustics Rental Network concept. All rental companies acknowledge today that the qualification of the network agent technicians and engineers has a major impact on system performance."

Meanwhile, following the news earlier this month that Jochen Frohn had departed Crest Audio (read more here), L-Acoustics has confirmed his appointment to the company in the role of international business development director. The manufacturer has also been joined by Jamie Gosney in the position of new UK technical manager. A previous employee of companies including Autograph Sales and Amber Sound, Gosney will work in close co-operation with UK sales manager Stuart Down and sales co-ordinator Nathalie Prade.

"I am really thrilled to be part of the L-Acoustics team in the UK," commented Gosney. "I love the products and really believe in them; they just sound lovely! I believe our products will benefit from Stuart's sales experience and my background in system design and installation."
