Harman's JBL Professional introduces its new CBT 50LA-LS line array column loudspeaker at ISE in Amsterdam this week.

The CBT 50LA-LS is a compact, 50cm high column that carries a straight line of eight 2" drivers. The unit contains low-saturation transformers, so it can be used on 70V or 100V distributed speaker lines or as low impedance speakers.

JBL's CBT Series column loudspeakers were the first loudspeakers to incorporate the company's patented constant beamwidth technology, which uses passive beam-forming components to deliver a narrow vertical beamwidth and constant directivity coverage from a passive column.

The constant beamwidth results in high intelligibility in difficult acoustical venues and consistent frequency response at every listener location.

The CBT speakers also have Dynamic SonicGuard overload protection circuitry built in. This reduces distortion at high SPL levels, along with user variable voicing, which allows for selecting a flat frequency response or a midrange presence peak for particularly clear speech clearness.

Community launches column line-array

US: ENTASYS is a new high-performance column line array loudspeaker system, writes David Davies. The three-way, full-range system is said to deliver "true line array performance" in a compact weather-resistant package, and is designed for permanent installation applications, including auditoria, airports, train stations, conference centres, houses of worship, stadium concourses and museums. Pennsylvania-based Community Professional has also recently launched the new VLF Series loudspeakers and a redesigned version of the M12 stage monitor.
