After equipping the Essen-based TBE theatre group's Aalto Theatre with a Salzbrenner Stagetec Mediagroup audio system in August 2014, the company's systems integration division was commissioned to install a similar system in TBE's Grillo Theatre during the summer.
The Grillo Theatre has used Stagetec Cantus consoles and first-generation Nexus Base Device hardware racks for many years and decided to stick with Salzbrenner Stagetec Mediagroup for its updated audio set-up: "After the cooperation we have enjoyed over the last 13 highly successful years, we continue to trust the excellent Mediagroup service," says the theatre's sound engineer, Reinhard Dix. "We are looking forward to the creative freedoms the new system provides."
Detlef Werner, project manager for the project, specified an Aurus Platinum mixing console (pictured), Nexus router system and custom designed, height-adjustable mount for the console, created by its own manufacturing department in Buttenheim. The Grillo Theatre will use its new direct-access console in both the audio control room and in the auditorium. The Nexus system is based on a Nexus Star router core and two Nexus Base Devices (one fixed, the other mobile) to ensure effective communication between the artists and the audio engineers.
The new system had to be installed in the Grillo's summer break between late July and mid-August. “We completed our work on time and were able to hand over the system on 13 August,” says Werner.
A member of the systems integration team explained the console’s features to the theatre’s audio engineers, and just days after the work was completed the Grillo Theatre was up and running again.
