RUSSIA: In excess of 7,200 people visited the inaugural Integrated Systems Russia (ISR) conference and trade show, held at Moscow's Gostiny Dvor convention centre earlier this month. While majoring on AV and control systems, ISR - which is organised by Integrated Systems Events and MidExpo - did afford a showcase for a handful of pro-audio brands such as Genelec and Biamp, writes David Davies.

Located alongside MidExpo's Hi-Tech Building exhibition, ISR covered a wide range of technologies, including large-screen displays and AV signal management. Prior to its commencement, a one-day conference entitled 'Professional Audio-Visual Solutions in Commercial and Residential Applications' drew more than 200 delegates to Moscow's President Hotel to hear presentations on a variety of applications and to obtain an insight into local video-conferencing project Electronic Moscow.

ISR itself is said to have attracted visitors from across Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Siberia - and beyond. Encouraged by the strong reaction, a number of companies - including AMX, Mitsubishi Electric and Crestron - have already rebooked for next year's event, to be held at a new venue (the Crocus Convention Centre) from October 30th to November 1st. Several new exhibitors, including Sony and Barco, have also confirmed that they will appear.

Mike Blackman, managing director of Integrated Systems Events, commented: "We will look back on this inaugural show as a landmark event in the development of our industry. We always believed that Russia and the CIS countries deserved their own show dedicated to AV and electronic systems integration, and we're delighted to have had that belief confirmed here in Moscow."

While a handful of pro-audio companies were present - notably RCF, Genelec and Biamp - through the auspices of their local distributors, the organisers expect this side of the business to be represented more comprehensively at future editions of ISR.

Speaking to PSN-e, Blackman confirms that "at this stage most pro-audio manufacturers are being represented by local distributors. But, just as ISE in Amsterdam has steadily pulled in more manufacturers from this sector, we expect more companies will exhibit in their own right in years to come."
