UK: Digidesign has announced extra Mac Leopard compatibility for Pro Tools 7.4, writes PSN-e. The enhanced compatibility is offered via a pre-release version of Pro Tools software, Pro Tools 7.4.2pr. According to Digidesign, the software is being provided as a "convenience" for Mac users wishing to begin the transition to Leopard before a fully tested and qualified version of Pro Tools becomes available.

According to Digidesign, the software is being provided as a "convenience" for Mac users wishing to begin the transition to Leopard before a fully tested and qualified version of Pro Tools becomes available.

Pro Tools 7.4.2pr is available as a download only, and requires Mac OS X 10.5.3. The new software is not compatible with earlier versions of Leopard.

The launch of the latest version of Pro Tools, Pro Tools 8, and the introduction of the first joint product pooling the respective hardware and software skills of Roland and Cakewalk were among the many technological highlights of the event, which took place at San Francisco's Moscone Center from October 2nd to 5th.

Abbey Road and Olympic take on new Pro Tools rigs

UK: The FX Group has supplied two of London's leading recording facilities, Abbey Road and Olympic Studios, with new Digidesign Pro Tools HD3 Accel systems. The systems were specified by Simon Campbell, EMI Studios Group UK's head of technical services, reports PSN-e.

Northern School of Sound preparing for launch

UK: The new facility is the first Apple Authorised Training Centre for Pro Apps in the North East, reports PSN-e. Owned and managed by certified Logic Pro Trainer Damian Dowling, the Northern School of Sound will off pro training and certification in music software (including Logic, Ableton Live and Reason), video editing software, Mac OS X and network administration, among other areas.

UK: Rupert Pfaff has unveiled a new East London studio facility, The Limehouse, to offer 'affordable audiophile' recording, reports David Davies. Pfaff, who used to be MD of London's now-defunct Turnkey music store (pre-Sound Control ownership), has developed a studio based around a Digidesign C|24 control surface, Pro Tools HD5 Accel, Apogee Converters, Focusrite ISA and Liquid mic preamps, 150-plus plug-in software processors and instruments, and Quested active monitors.
