Dijon Palais powered by Powersoft

The sound system in the Palais des Sports in the French city of Dijon has been upgraded by Châtenoy-le-Royal-based Irelem.

The sound system in the 4,628-capacity Palais des Sports in the French city of Dijon has recently been upgraded. The primary purpose of the venue is to serve as the home ground for the Jeanne d’Arc Dijon Bourgogne basketball team, but the venue hosts a number of other sports too.

Châtenoy-le-Royal-based Irelem carried out the installation of the new system, with the acoustic consultation prepared by Acoustique France. Powersoft’s French distributor, Axente, supplied the four, 8-channel, 12K4 and 4K4 Ottocanali amplifiers that each take up only 2RU. The 12K4 offers up to 12,000W of output power and the 4K4 delivers a total of 4,000W.

A total of three 12K4s were installed for mids and lows and one 4K4 is utilised for highs, driving four ohms into a new loudspeaker system consisting of 12 EAW QX300 series speakers. Axente’s Alain Hercman, says: “There has been a great improvement in intelligibility and a gain of 12dB in sound pressure level.”

The Powersoft amplifiers were chosen for their power-to-space ratio, low power consumption and heat dissipation. On match days, the PA system is fed from standard mic and line sources via a Yamaha mixer and EAW processors.
