Canford has been appointed sole UK and Republic of Ireland distribution partner for the Green-Go range of digital intercom-over-Ethernet products.
Unlike other digital intercom designs, Green-Go, by Dutch company ELC Lighting, does not employ an expensive central matrix. All interconnection routing data, system set-up and user preferences are stored locally within each user station, including beltpacks, which eliminates the possibility of a disastrous central failure.
“Green-Go digital intercom is stirring up a great deal of interest and is now being specified by consultants,” comments Canford product manager Mike Reay. “It is an excellent fit with our own widely used analogue party-line system, allowing us to address more complex projects which exceed the capabilities of traditional analogue designs. The system brings the benefits of digital control, giving designers the freedom to create up to 250 intercom channels with a maximum of 3,000 users.”
Green-Go does not require a dedicated Ethernet network; it will operate on any 100Mbit network without interfering with other data protocols coexisting on the system, including Dante. User stations are powered by power over Ethernet (PoE), but if this is not available locally any good quality PoE switch may be used, including Green-Go’s own five-port switch. Latency clocks in at 12ms.
The current Green-Go range (a selection is pictured) includes beltpacks, wall stations, multi-channel desks (eight, 16, 24 and 32 channels) and interfaces for integrating with analogue two- and four-wire intercom systems. The recently introduced bridge interface enables venues in different locations to link their Green-Go comms together via the internet while retaining full system functionality. A basic intercom system can be created with just two beltpacks.
