US/HOLLAND: The recent ISE exhibition in Amsterdam saw two significant announcements from US manufacturer Biamp: the appointment of a new distributor for the Benelux region, Electric Sound Benelux BV, and the European launch of a new Network Paging System that is said to feature "all the power of [Biamp's] AudiaFLEX DSP and the simplicity of a single-cable, Networked Paging Station," reports David Davies.

Led by general manager John Haug (pictured here on the left, cutting a celebratory cake at ISE with Biamp's Graeme Harrison) and with sales and support teams located in Zaventem and Almere, Electric Sound is a long-established distributor whose roster also includes Rane Corp, Beyerdynamic and Dynacord, among others.

"We consider Biamp to be the frontrunner in audio DSP and networking technologies in the world," Haug tells PSN-e. "We want to work with [such eminent] companies as we want to present the best possible solutions to our customers." Haug adds that he foresees strong growth potential for the Biamp brand in the region's conferencing and paging markets.

"The culture at Electric Sound strongly reflects the culture at Biamp Systems," said Peter Owen, Biamp regional manager, Western Europe, Electric Sound Benelux BV. "We are both heavily committed to listening to the needs of integrators and not simply coming up with a 'one size fits all' solution, but delivering systems that meet the application challenges, technology requirements and commercial demands of discrete projects. We look forward to working with John Haug and his team, and to advancing the service and support Biamp provides our customers in the Benelux region."

Meanwhile, the new Network Paging System - introduced to European systems integrators at ISE - comprises Biamp's Networked Paging Station-1, integrated with the AudiaFLEX systems with CobraNet, and "purpose-built programming blocks" designed for paging applications.

"Great systems start with great network processors, and our paging solution features the industry's most comprehensive, scalable and powerful architecture at its core," commented Steve Metzger, business development director at Biamp Systems. "Now with the Networked Paging Station, we're offering a paging interface that is designed with the integrator and the end-user in mind, and that is immediately apparent from the usability, control capability and robustness. Having previewed the system to European partners, we feel we have a real strong offering and we're confident the market will agree."
