US: The Tutorials, Workshops and Papers programme for next month’s convention has been issued, writes PSN-e. Subjects to be covered during AES 125 – to be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco between October 2nd and 5th – include electroacoustic measurements, audio networking, video game audio, and recording techniques for electric guitars.
“While a bustling Exhibition Hall may represent the most palpable sign of a successful event, it is the Tutorials, Workshops and Papers sessions where some of the most meaningful and lasting benefits are accrued,” said Convention co-chair John Strawn. “Tutorial Co-Chairs Jim McTigue (pictured) and Conrad Cooke have developed a particularly worthwhile programme for the 125th Convention_”
Sessions include a focus on applications of electroacoustic measurement methods, instrumentation and data interpretation (October 2nd); an analysis of standard-based audio network using IEEE 802.1 AVB (also 2nd); a look at sound design, mixing and studio techniques for video game audio (3rd); a presentation by Oxford Digital’s Peter Eastty on digital filtering (4th); an exploration of new encoding channels for 7.1 channel playback in gaming (also 4th); and recording techniques for the electric guitar (also 4th).
