Yamaha sponsors new sound designers group

Yamaha Commercial Audio has become a sponsor of the recently-launched Association of Sound Designers (ASD) – a development that was celebrated during the PLASA Show last month.

Yamaha Commercial Audio has become a sponsor of the recently-launched Association of Sound Designers (ASD) – a development that was celebrated during the PLASA Show last month.

Founded by some of the UK’s most prominent sound designers, the ASD is designed to provide people in this area of the industry with a professional representative body. The organisation has actively support from rental companies, educational institutions and equipment manufacturers, and is prioritising issues including training and new technology.

Karl Christmas (pictured here, centre, with ASD chairman Gareth Fry and board member Gregg Fisher), senior manager at Yamaha Commercial Audio (UK), commented: “Providing support for end-users is very important to Yamaha and so we fully endorse the launch of the ASD. As a corporate sponsor, we look forward to working with the ASD’s Board to develop opportunities for training, discussion of new audio technologies and any other support that we can offer.”

Gareth Fry added: “It was very important for us to involve the major equipment companies, to aid seamless communication between sound designers and the designers and manufacturers of the equipment they use. As one of the industry’s highest profile manufacturers, we are very pleased that Yamaha has agreed to become a corporate sponsor and we look forward to working closely with them.”
