UK: Yamaha Download offers information, knowledge and advice for "anyone serious about playing and producing music", writes PSN-e. The Editors, Elbow and Jamie Cullum are among the artists to feature on the site, which includes advice on live sound from top engineers, as well as equipment reviews, a range of tutorials, and guidance from music managers and broadcasters.

Download will also incorporate regular promotions, gear reviews, professional demos, live footage, gig guides and a wide range of useful links. It will also serve as "home-base" for Yamaha programmes including the Childline Rocks free music lesson fundraiser, the Make It Break It Songwriting Awards and the Band For a Grand competition.

Indeed, Band For a Grand is due to reach its climax at the Stables in Milton Keynes on December 7. Prior to that, people are invited to visit the new website (link below) and vote for their favourite band. All participants will be automatically entered into a free prize draw with the chance to win _1,000 worth of Yamaha gear. The five most popular bands will be invited to perform at the Stables to an audience of industry professionals, and the overall winner will be given time in a world class recording studio with full technical and production support.

"We have been working on Download for over a year now," said Yamaha's Ricci Hodgson. "Our ambition is for the site to develop into one of the most popular places for all musicians - beginners or professional - to learn and connect. The unique mix of highly valuable content will ensure that there is something for everyone. We found that many of our artist friends were really keen to get involved and share their knowledge and skills with everyone. This content is highly informative, entertaining and often extremely humorous!"
