Shown being interviewed (badly) by deputy editor Jon Chapple are live engineer of the year Reay Grant; Paul Timmins of Capital Sound, which won best tour sound production for British Summer Time 2013 in Hyde Park; and I Can’t Sing! The X Factor Musical‘s Chris Mace, who won the award for best theatre sound.
The Pro Sound Awards recognises excellence in the four sectors of installed, studio, broadcast and live/touring sound, along with four special awards for Rising Star, Marketing Initiative of the Year, Grand Prix and Lifetime Achievement. A full list of the 2014 winners is available here.
New for this year was The Pre-Roll – two entertaining and well-received sessions of talk and Q&A ahead of main event – featuring the talents Monty Python’s go-to soundtrack man Andre Jacquemin, Depeche Mode collaborator Ben Hillier and Smiths, Morrissey and Blur producer Stephen Street, along with some of the biggest names in live sound.
