In the wake of supplying an all-Van Damme cabling refit at Abbey Road Studio 2, the company has facilitated a comprehensive Van Damme cable and connector fit-out at the new Studio 52.
A former production room, Studio 52 is home to Abbey Road’s newly purchased SSL Duality SE console. The facility – which will help to accommodate the Abbey Road Online Mixing service – also features a Pro Tools 10 Native HD system, B&W and Adam Audio monitoring, and a selection of classic analogue outboard gear.
Van Damme cables and connectors were selected to provide reliable connectivity and signal transmission, with specific products installed including Single Audio Line Cables, 8 Pair DSUB Looms, Speaker Cable, Patch Bays, Patch Cables and VDM Circular Audio Multi Pin Connectors.
Simon Campbell, technical manager at Abbey Road Studios, commented: “We have a long relationship with VDC Trading, which has supplied Van Damme cable for many of our other facilities in the past. As a result, we know that Van Damme cable and connectors deliver excellent value for money. They perform very well over a long period and are easy to work with during and after installation.”
Niall Holden, MD at VDC Trading, added: “I am delighted to continue our relationship with Abbey Road, which is clearly one of the most famous names in music. To see a studio with such high standards choose Van Damme, for which VDC is the exclusive distributor, is extremely gratifying, and tribute to the hard work our technical experts put into working with Van Damme to design some of the best cable and connector products available anywhere.”
Andy Hatcher, MI specialist at VDC Trading, summed up: “It’s been a pleasure dealing with the technical guys at Abbey Road. They’re a great team who understand that VDC means quality, from the supply of a single mic cable to a complex loom. Working with Abbey Road Studios is possibly the highest stamp of approval a cable manufacturer can receive in the audio world. The best of British!”
