The company, led by CEO Niall Holden, is investing in the future with new additions to its team and its largest product expansion yet, with a host of new cables and connectors on the way, reports David Davies.

In the first phase of a new product introduction that will see hundreds of new stock items added to the VDC Trading catalogue in the coming weeks, the UK-based cabling specialist has announced the launch of the following products: VDC Contractor HDMI v1.4 standard speed assemblies, optimised for 720p/1080i resolutions and available in lengths of up to 20 metres; Van Damme HDMI v1.4 high speed assemblies, which are available in lengths up to 7.5 metres; ICM F-Conn Compression connectors, which feature a 360-degree radial design and feature BNC, HD-SDI, NDC, phono and F type to suit a wide range of solid conductor coaxial cables; Van Damme Hi-Fi Series 0.75mm and 1.50mm shotgun speaker cables, ideal for smaller home installations; a sixth colour, Lemon Yellow RAL 1012, for the Van Damme Plasma Grade Standard and Miniature 75 Ohm coaxial cable ranges; Van Damme Tour Grade Classic XKE Miniature Starquad, with an overall diameter of 4.85mm that makes it suitable for bantam adaptor cables, short patch cords and boom microphone cables; and Van Damme Pro Grade Classic XKE Super Flexible 1 Pair Install, a 3.60mm balanced analogue audio cable with a lapped copper spiral screen.

Dug Guthrie, technical director at VDC Trading, commented: “All these new ranges have been added in direct response to numerous requests from customers. In particular, we are delighted to now offer a broad range of F-Conn compression connectors encompassing both straight and right angle BNC and phono connectors, F connectors and HD-SDI specific BNCs. These are precision-engineered products of the highest quality, which offer all the advantages associated with compression connectors.

“Our ambition is to offer our customers the most complete range of essential AV cabling and connectivity products available, whilst maintaining the quality, robustness and affordability on which our success is built. New ranges coming into stock shortly include Van Damme Tourcat Extended Distance Cat 5E cables, Van Damme HD-SDI digital coaxials and 3GHz SMPTE 424M compliant BNCconnectors, and there is much more to come.”

Simultaneous to an approximate 15% expansion in the overall product catalogue, VDC Trading is continuing to expand its team, with 11 new recruits receiving sales training in recent months.

Reflecting on the company’s current expansion drive, Niall Holden remarked: “The excitement for me in business is the constant need for change and improvement. I always enjoy the challenge, and this range expansion has been no different.

“When you’re adding even one new product there is no half measure. The factories can’t make 300m metres of cable to ‘see how it goes’ and, whilst our MOQs are quite high, so are our quality requirements. As a result, we have carried out a huge amount of R&D in preparing to launch this range of new cables and connectors – and we are very pleased with the outcome.”
