Set to be presented during the 2012 MPG Awards, the Unsung Hero award recognises the achievement of an individual with a long and distinguished connection to the world of professional recording.

Continuing its long involvement with the MPG Awards, PSNE is again sponsoring the Unsung Hero category – this time in conjunction with sound engineering school Alchemea.

Following the victory of Dune Music’s Adam Sieff (pictured here, right, with PSNE editor Dave Robinson) in 2011, the individuals in the running for the 2012 Unsung Hero award are as follows:

Alison Wenham: AIM chief, nominated for “untiring work on behalf of independent artists and labels”

Jazz Lee: studio manager at Dean St, nominated for second time

Crispin Murray: A repeat nomination for “the mainstay and technical inspiration for Metropolis Mastering”

Jim Marshall: “Who hasn’t used a Marshall amp – and 2011 is the 50th anniversary”

Darren Jennings: tape op at Deep Studios, who has “just started but is already proving very invaluable to have around”

Charlie Mine: booking coordinator at Air/Strongroom: “super-organised, ultra-helpful, always making things happen!”

Vic Keary: long-established recording engineer and founder of Thermionic Culture, “making great audio equipment”

The vote – which is open to all – closes on 21 December. To register your vote, please visit the dedicated page on the PSNE website.
