Line 6, QSC (KLA12, pictured) and RCF are among the companies whose latest launches feature in PSN-e’s second round-up of highlights from the 2011 PLASA Show, which starts this coming weekend.
Adam Hall is to launch a new model within the Audac SP Series, the SP20HA, a version specifically designed for hanging. The SP Series sound projectors are designed to provide good speech intelligibility and background music in a wide variety of applications. Weatherproof to IP56 for indoor and outdoor use, they are, the company says, perfectly suited for use in large 100V broadcast systems such as train stations or airports. The enclosure is made of white weatherproof ABS with a white weatherproof-coated aluminium front grill. The SP20 is a humidity-proof 20W sound projector designed to ensure clear, powerful sound reproduction, making it suitable for speech and music. It is fitted with a 4in broadband loudspeaker, and power is adjustable via the integrated 100V line transformer with four power taps for 20W, 10W, 5W and 2.5W.
Meanwhile, Cadac – whose new CDC Eight console was a highlight of last week’s PLASA preview – will highlight a new exclusive distribution agreement for this desk with CUK Audio that covers the UK and Ireland. The console manufacturer’s sales development manager, Vincenzo Borelli, remarked: “Cadac is embarking on an exciting phase of development, with a wider range of digital and analogue product lines. Maintaining our core values of sound quality and innovation, we will be introducing Cadac advantages at a range of price levels for a greater range of applications. Ensuring our distribution delivers this with the highest level of service and support is a key part of our strategy and, with their technical competence and synergetic brands, CUK Audio is an ideal partner.”
Line 6 returns to the PLASA show to showcase its new XD-V digital wireless microphone systems.
The XD-V70HS digital wireless system consists of a lightweight, discreet and fully adjustable headset with an omni-directional condenser microphone. It features a robust uni-directional condenser microphone attached to a durable headset, which is ideal for fitness instructors, business presentations and environments with high levels of ambient noise.
QSC Audio Products will feature the new KLA Series Active Line Array System, the latest addition to the House of K family of active loudspeakers, joining the ranks of the K Series and KW Series. Available in black and white, the KLA Series comprises two models: the KLA12 is a 12”, two-way, line array element, and the KLA181 an 18” direct radiating subwoofer. KLA12 is an 18º fixed-arcuate line array element allowing installers to create a 90 X 90º array using only five KLA12 enclosures.
Riedel Communications will be promoting the MediorNet Compact, which is making its European debut. MediorNet Compact is the first 50 G multimedia stagebox with integrated WDM. It is billed as ‘the cost-effective and easy-to-use entry into the Riedel MediorNet world of integrated media signal distribution and processing’. The device will be shown simultaneously in Amsterdam at the IBC event.
One of the latest additions to the TT+ High Definition Touring and Theatre range from RCF is the TTL11A digitally steerable array. With the addition of the new TTS26-A subwoofer, the new column array becomes a powerful, compact and high-definition live sound system, says the company. The TTL11A is an active column speaker array system composed of two modules, one for the mid-high and one for the bass frequencies. The TTL11A features eight possible splay digital angles, from 0° to 7° with 1° step increment to direct the sound beam with the maximum accuracy. The compact multi-way constant directivity horn is equipped with four 2.5” titanium compression drivers and delivers an ‘incredible’ output with a perfect pattern control.
A new player in the loudspeaker sector, Brighton-based Traction Sound will be exhibiting its SDS loudspeaker range on A.C. Entertainment Technologies’ stand. The company’s SDS sound systems uses “the latest technology to deliver accurate sound reproduction at high SPL... The results are heavy duty loudspeakers that sound and look great.” The SDS Horn employs an array of soft-dome tweeters, producing the same energy as a compression driver from a much larger source area. Replacing compression drivers excludes the inherent air distortion (wave steepening) and diaphragm break up common to pro-audio loudspeakers.
The A.C. Audio division will also showcase wireless microphone and IEM systems from Shire, along with Soundcraft and Yamaha consoles, Denon solid state recorders, BSS processing and Aviom personal monitors.
Finally for this round-up, Yamaha Commercial Audio Europe comes to Earls Court on the back of the company's most successful ever festival season and is showing three products which are making their European trade show debuts. The follow-up to the original StageMix iPad app, Stage Mix 2.0 gives users of M7CL and LS9 consoles “even greater levels of wireless control”. The VS series of installation loudspeakers will be available from early autumn in two models – the VS4 and VS6 – in black or white, while the MY4-AEC Echo Canceller card offers high-definition sound for audio and video-conferencing with Yamaha's DME series of digital mixing engines.
