DiGiCo, d&b, EAW, Genelec and Yamaha are among the many companies to have revealed their plans for this year’s edition of ISE, which takes place at the Amsterdam RAI from 31 January.
Participating in ISE alongside its Dutch distributor, TM Audio, UK-based manufacturer DiGiCo (stand 1H90) is to exhibit the SD range of mixing consoles (pictured).
The SD7 – which will be joined by the SD10, SD8, SD9 and the smallest in the range, the SD11 – was the first digital mixing console to use Stealth Digital Processing, which can now be found in the entire SD range. Its flexible bussing structure features a possible 128 busses and 256 processing paths, plus a 32 x 32 matrix, 32 x 32 band graphic EQ and a plethora of internal effects. SD7 options include the EX-007 expander unit.
Among the features of the SD10, meanwhile, are 37 100mm touch-sensitive faders to provide fast access to the console’s channels, which include 96 with full processing – 12 of which can be configured as full Flexi Channels – and outputs that can be assigned across the surface. The spec also features Smart Key Macros, rear located local I/O, Dynamic EQ on all four bands of parametric EQ, 48 assignable busses, and insertable FX and graphic EQs that can be routed, controlled and snapshot recalled.
The SD8 – which has recently been upgraded with the addition of software/firmware upgrades in the form of Overdrive 2 – is an entry-level console that provides the same audio quality as the flagship SD7. The other models in the SD range – the SD9 and SD11 – will also be displayed for the attention of ISE visitors.
“ISE has proved to be extremely successful for DiGiCo in the past few years,” said DiGiCo managing director, James Gordon. “We are sure this year will be no exception, especially as we now have such a comprehensive range of products.”
d&b (stand 1N28, E103) is to turn the spotlight on its new White version loudspeakers from the xS- and XA-Series. The manufacturer will also hold a series of systems integration presentations with ‘detailed listening experiences’ in room E103. Various combinations of the xS- and XA- models will be showcased at the sessions on Tuesday 31 Jan (11:30, 14:30, 16:30), Wednesday 1 Feb (9:30, 11:30, 14:30, 16:30) and Thursday 2 Feb (9:30, 11:30, 14:30).
Marcus Bäumler, product manager for the d&b White range, commented: “After last year’s very successful debut at ISE for d&b audiotechnik, which also marked the introduction of our White range of integration products, we expect 2012 to be an even better show with more relevant contacts. ISE has established itself as the leading exhibition for installation and integration business in Europe and will help us to increase the awareness of our products and services in this area of the professional audio market.”
New/recent products on show from EAW (stand 1F115) will include the KF200NT loudspeaker module, oriented towards applications such as corporate AV, performing arts venues, houses of worship, retail, ballrooms, theatres and theme parks. The module consists of a single 10-inch woofer with 2.5-inch voice coil and a coaxial mid-high driver consisting of 8-inch cone MF with 2-inch voice coil. Also included are 1.75-inch voice coil compression driver (HF), a ‘perfectly matched’ 1500W Close Coupled amplifier, EAW Focusing processing and the proprietary U-Net network.
EAW will also exhibit MicroWedge8 (MW8) and MicroWedge (MW10), constituting a small format continuation of the popular EAW MicroWedge Series of stage monitors. The MW8 and MW10 are suitable for applications that demand the high level of performance, audio quality, inherent feedback stability, smooth coverage and ergonomic design of the MW12 and MW15, but without the need for the MW12/MW15’s levels of power-handling and size. The MW8 is the smallest in the MW line of products, with an 8-inch woofer, while the MW10 features a 10-inch woofer. Both units’ coaxial designs pair the respective woofers with a 3-in (diaphragm) coaxially-mounted HF compression driver, providing 90-degree horizontal dispersion.
Three space-sensitive models from the EAW VF Series of passive speakers – the VFR69 6-inch two-way full-range loudspeaker, the VFR89 8-inch two-way full-range loudspeaker, and the VFM109 10-inch two-way stage monitor – will also be exhibited. The VF Series is intended for both portable and install applications and environments, including auditoriums, theatres, nightclubs and DJ set-ups, bars, music performances, houses of worship, mobile churches and more.
The 4000 Series active loudspeakers and the 1238CF three-way monitors are among the products to be shown by Genelec (stand 1K76). The newest model in the 4000 Series is the 4040A, which performs to the same high level as Genelec’s studio products but offers more power for installation purposes. With its large tweeter and powerful amplifier, it is designed for applications such as large conference rooms and auditoria. Like all products in the range, it is fitted with ‘Phoenix’ screw terminals, enabling an easy, secure connection and interference-free sound.
A new addition to Genelec’s DSP range of monitors, the 1238CF three-way monitor is compatible with proprietary Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) control software and can be combined with Genelec 8200/7200 Series products in the same control network.
The company has also announced plans for free, on-booth training sessions that are open to all delegates. Attendance is free; delegates only need to turn up on the day to join a session. All participants will be entered for a prize draw to receive a 6000A – TUBE, Genelec’s limited edition take on the desktop loudspeaker. “It’s nice to be offering something a bit different at ISE 2012,” said Terho Savolainen, marketing manager at Genelec. “Practical training in audio installation can be really useful and ISE is the perfect platform to reach integrators.”
Finally for this round-up, ISE 2012 will find Yamaha (1H6) exhibiting a wide range of products for the installation market. As a leading innovator in digital networking solutions, Yamaha will be demonstrating the integration of its products with a number of different audio formats through a plethora of its MY series I/O cards. These will include the recently-launched MY4-AEC echo cancellation card. Also on show will be Yamaha’s comprehensive ranges of loudspeakers, amplifiers, mixers and audio processors, as well as the WORKproCA range of contractor installation products.
