Children’s hospice Julia’s House will be the charity partner for the 2015 Pro Sound Awards.
“We are delighted PSNEurope has chosen Julia’s House, The Dorset & Wiltshire Children’s Hospice, for the Pro Sound Awards,” says Julia’s House business fundraiser Sue Miles. “We need to raise £4.6m in 2015 and receive only six per cent of our funding from the government, so support from events like the Pro Sound Awards is vital to provide our respite care service for families with seriously ill children.
“Julia’s House provides play, music and art therapies and wonderful care for children who are not expected to live to adulthood, [as well as] support for the whole family.”
Julia’s House, in Corfe Mullen, Dorset, is the only children’s hospice charity in Dorset and south Wiltshire and is dedicated to helping ‘life-limited’ children and their families. It offers regular respite sessions at the hospice and in families’ own homes and events for siblings, mums and dads.
“Our respite care means so much to parents who are looking after a very sick child 24 hours a day,” says the charity on its website. “It gives them time out with their partners, their other children or simply a chance to catch up with some day-to-day tasks, safe in the knowledge their child is being looked after by people they know and trust.
“Our nurses and carers provide life-changing support for parents and their children both in the hospice and in their own homes. We are there year-round and in a crisis, offering emergency respite and overnight care. We are also there when the worst happens, offering emotional and practical support at the end of a child’s life.”
