UK: This year's event - due to begin tomorrow (June 10) - will feature more than 100 exhibitors, writes David Davies. The adoption of an online-only pre-registration system was among the changes made in advance of the 2009 ABTT Theatre Show, which takes place at the Royal Horticultural Halls on June 10/11.

The 2009 event will witness a substantial presence by pro-audio companies, with a number of leading names - including Yamaha, MIDAS ProSound, Cadac, L-ACOUSTICS, SSE Audio Group and Red Square Audio - appearing for the first time. The other audio exhibitors at this year's show are Opus Audio Developments, Loh Humm Audio Company, Allen & Heath, Trantec, HD Pro Audio, Alcons Audio, LMC Audio Systems, RCF UK, Martin Audio, Orbital Sound, d&b audiotechnik, Sound Technology, Polar Audio, Sound Associates and KV2 Audio Europe.

"I'm really delighted by the number of pro-audio companies in attendance," show director Roger Fox (pictured) tells PSN-e. "I think it shows that people have grasped that theatre is an important part of the marketplace [_] and that they recognise this as an opportunity to meet the end-users. We are delighted that they have joined the club."

A number of manufacturers will spotlight new or recently-launched equipment, including Soundcraft with the Si2 digital mixing console, d&b audiotechnik with the T10 loudspeaker and Alcons Audio with the LR7 bass unit. In addition, RCF will debut its 'Systems Integration' project design service.

Wireless technology will also be a major focus at the show, with AKG, beyerdynamic and Trantec among the companies set to show equipment that can cope with new and reduced spectrum access.

Attendance-wise, Fox says he would be delighted with "more than 2000" in the context of a planned two-day tube strike scheduled to begin on June 9.

The ABTT Theatre Show takes place at London's Royal Horticultural Halls from June 10 to 11, with the annual awards event to be held on the 10th from 6.30pm in the Royal Horticultural Halls' Conference Centre.
