Organisers of PLASA Focus: Leeds have reported a sold-out exhibitor total of 117 across two halls and visitor pre-registration of 1,650 (vs. 1,352 at this point last year).
This year’s PLASA Focus: Leeds – the third event in the series – follows a highly successful 2010 edition that registered a 30% increase in visitor numbers. Half of the show’s visitors don’t attend any other trade show, while 70% of attendees are drawn from the North of England, Ireland and Scotland.
Once again, the venue for PLASA Focus: Leeds is the Royal Armouries Museum, with the 2011 event scheduled to take place on 19/20 April.
Organiser PLASA Events has now released details of the expanded Education & Learning Programme, with specific sessions set to include: the RSC’s Vince Herbert, Jeremy Dunn and Adam Harvey, and Stage Electrics’ Jonathan Porter-Goff in a seminar entitled ‘Build a Theatre, Rebuild Another and Refurbish a Third’; Ric Green of Opera North on the refurbishment of Leeds Grand Theatre; the SMA and ABTT on scenery construction; Total Solutions Group and UK Rigging on why satisfying healthy and safety requirements ‘needn’t be as daunting as is often thought’; the Theatre Trust on Display Energy Certificates; sound engineer Dave Swallow (Amy Winehouse, La Roux) on the art of mixing a show; Sennheiser’s Alan March on UK spectrum reallocation as part of an ISCE-presented session; an InfoComm seminar on project management; and an RH Consulting-presented session on running entertainment technology rental and installation businesses.
Product demonstrations and training will be provided in a dedicated seminar suite. MA Lighting, Audio-Technica, NEXO, Cooper Controls, Vectorworks, Shure Distribution, Lanta, Wireless Solution and Clay Paky are among the participating companies.
