Show director Nicola Rowland commented: “The universally positive feedback and the strong visitor figures would be satisfying under any circumstances, but in the current economic climate it’s a strong result for our exhibitors and for the show itself – it underlines just how important PLASA remains in the international events calendar.

“Numbers alone were only part of the story. We’ve had a lot of enthusiastic comments about the overall atmosphere, the vibe that was evident around the show floor and the very high quality of visitors, which led to a serious amount of business being conducted.”

In addition to the busy show floor and a comprehensive seminar/education schedule, PLASA 2010 was also enhanced by two new conference events: the PLASA International Rigging Conference and AVNetworks 2010, which was co-presented by Pro Sound News Europe and Installation Europe.

PLASA has already confirmed that next year’s show will again take place at Earls Court, from 11-14 September. Whether a change of venue will be required after 2011 is yet to be confirmed, with speculation continuing about the future of Earls Court after the 2012 Olympic Games. But in related news, Earls Court owner EC&O Venues recently announced details of a multi-million pound redevelopment of its other exhibition site, Olympia. Currently the subject of a consultation, the proposed works include redeveloping the West Hall within its existing format, adding a floor and creating links to the Grand Hall and Olympia Two.
