In a never-before witnessed spurt of facial derring-do, the brave men of PSNEurope, along with colleagues and friends, will be participating in the celebrated Movember campaign from Friday. PSNEurope editor Dave Robinson is leading Mo-Sound-News, a team of determined (but somewhat nervous) souls who aim to cultivate a full, lustrous lip-slug of nostril-tickling shagpile before the month is up. Paddy Baker from sister-title Installation, and Ben Ewles and Neal Romanek from TVBEurope, have agreed to join up and help advertising manager Ryan O’Donnell, production executive Evan Graham and the currently-goatee-free editor in raising money and promoting awareness of men’s health issues, particularly testicular and prostate cancer. “I’ve thought about growing a moustache for this campaign for years, but reckoned I might get arrested for crimes against decency,” says Mo-Sound-News captain Robinson. “Now I’m backed by a suitably like-minded group of muppets, there’ll be no stopping us. “I’d like to encourage other members of the pro-audio community to sign up to the team too. Mark Flanagan of TC/Tannoy said he would, for instance. It’s going to be tough for him to change his mind now, isn’t it? That’s right, Mark. “We’ll be posting up regular pictures of our tache-related antics in the usual social networking places. Like photos of cats and people’s children playing in the snow, you won’t be able to avoid them. So you might as well sponsor the Mo-Sound-News crew early and get it out of the way.”
For over a decade, the Movember campaign has been working to support and promote understanding of issues surrounding testicular and prostate cancer. To donate to Team Mo-Sound-News, or to sign up and be a fellow Mo Bro (or Sista!), look no further… http://uk.movember.com/team/1139633
+ UPDATE We can report that Mark Flanagan has, indeed, joined Team Mo-Sound-News.

Smaller technology for bigger radio news stories

Radio news, like any type of journalism, is all about getting the story before any one else. While the medium can move faster than TV, it has still been slowed down by cumbersome equipment and technology. But that is changing now.
