MicW – the Beijing-based manufacturer whose products are distributed in the UK by eMerging – has introduced the i436 measurement microphone for use with the iPhone, iPad and iTouch.

Designed and manufactured according to IEC 61672 and ANSI S1.4 measurement microphone standards, the i436 offers a very flat frequency response, an omni-directional pattern, and long-term stability against high humidity and temperature.

Featuring a stainless steel housing weighing only 6 grams, the i436 is a standard 1/4” (3.5mm) jack measurement microphone and can be inserted in the headphone/microphone socket of any portable device. The accuracy of the measurement can be ensured by using a sound level calibrator. Engineers can use their iPhone or iPad to check installations and trouble-shoot for live sound, broadcast, studio and consumer installations.

As well as enabling convenient sound level analysis and field measurement for sound engineers, the i436 can serve as a high quality audio capture tool for musicians’ writing sessions and podcasting, among other applications.

“At Frankfurt, the response to the i436 was overwhelming. It is definitely the right product for iOS device users,” said MicW’s CEO Dr. Qunli Wu. “Our aim was to use our 12 years’ experience in manufacturing measurement microphones to develop the i-series mic, for iOS users.”
