Daventry-based asset finance specialist Medialease has been confirmed as the sponsor of the ‘Live/Touring’ categories at the Pro Sound Awards, to be held at the world famous Ministry of Sound on 19 September.
The lobbying period for the awards remains open until the 14 June. Medialease will sponsor Engineer of the Year, Touring Sound Production and After-sales Support – the three accolades in the Live/Touring category.
The Pro Sound Awards, hosted at the south-east London nightclub on 19 September, will cover the wide spectrum of pro-audio, recognising excellence in the four sectors of Installed Sound, Studio, Broadcast Audio and Live/Touring Sound, along with four special awards for Rising Star, Marketing Campaign/Initiative of the Year, Grand Prix and Lifetime Achievement. Medialease joins Genelec, Sennheiser, DiGiCo, Martin Audio, Sony Professional, Focusrite Novation and Fineline Media Finance in the line-up of sponsors.
“Medialease has been financing all things audio related – from Flying Faders to flying line arrays – for 12 years,” says director Paul Robson. “We understand your equipment! From studio outboard gear and classic Neve and SSL analogue desks, through to post-production Yamaha Nuage and Avid D-Control consoles and, of course, all things live: L-Acoustics K1 systems and DiGiCo desks, IEM equipment and club PAs.”
Who is eligible for each award? The boundaries are intentionally broad, in order to entice as many entries as possible.
For Engineer of the Year, we’re looking for ‘Any engineer working in a touring, theatre or one-off event environment at FOH or monitor position, who has demonstrated exemplary contribution or performance’. Gear manufacturers, PA companies, venue bosses – tell us about your best men and women!
For the Tour Sound Production award, we’re after ‘Any PA/rental house who shows outstanding work in a live production (theatre, touring, one-off event, festival)’. Tour managers, venues, production managers, and even the bands themselves should all be able to think of many sound houses they’ve been impressed with.
And for After-sales Support – and yes, this is a shamelessly ‘businessy’ gong – nominations should be for ‘Any equipment supplier/distributor/reseller who demonstrates exemplary support following a high price-tag purchase/production project spend’. This is where the theatre manager acknowledges the audio supplier; or the rental company gives props to the equipment manufacturer/supplier. There’s plenty of scope here.
All suggestions should apply to events between 9 September 2012 (…that’s after the Olympics) until the lobbying period closes, on 14 June 2013. So drop us a line with your proposal(s), fast!
“Medialease has been supporting the audio industry for many years – not just in terms of equipment financing but supporting audio-related awards too,” continues Robson. “We have been looking for the right opportunity for the live audio community and now, finally, it has arrived with the Pro Sound Awards. We are thoroughly pleased to be invited to take part and delighted to support the three awards in the ‘Live’ category.”
