Antwerps Sportpaleis

Today, leading concert promotor Live Nation Belgium, the Belgian subsidiary of the US based publicly-traded Live Nation group, announced the acquisition of the Antwerps Sportpaleis.

Live Nation Belgium is a leading concert promoter in Belgium, organising concerts and festivals such as Rock Werchter.

Antwerps Sportpaleis, part of Sportpaleis Group nv, is the management company of venues such as Sportpaleis (18,500 capacity), Lotto Arena (5,218 capacity) and Stadsschouwburg (2,060 seats) in Antwerp, the 8,400 capacity Forest National in Brussels, the Capitole Theatre (1,600 seats) in Ghent and the Grenslandhallen in Hasselt with Ethias Arena, Ethias Theatre with a respective capacity of 21,600 and 3,500 visitors. This acquisition allows Live Nation to book artists and performers for a wide range of different events across the Sportpaleis Group's portfolio of venues.

Neither Live Nation nor Antwerps Sportpaleis issued an official statement on the terms and conditions of the acquisition – but sources in both companies underlined that the ownership of the real estate and the two other companies of the Sportpaleis Group nv, PSE (organisers of Night of the Proms) and ticketing company Tele Ticket service were not part of the acquisition. Current managers of Antwerp Sportpaleis, Jan Vereecke and Jan Van Esbroeck, will remain working at the company.
