Raising its commitment to the UK marketplace and acknowledging growing demand for its IP-based video, audio, control and networking technologies, German broadcast manufacturer Lawo has opened a subsidiary in the UK and boosted its sales and support team with new hires.

Pre-sales and systems engineer Kadhim Boyd, solution architect James Walker and sales managers Olivier Hough and Devin Workman will bring a new level of quality of customer service to the UK. The new hires bring industry expertise and many years of commercial and practical sales engineering and support experience, making them ideal for their respective positions with Lawo.

“Lawo is investing heavily in the UK as part of a drive to keep up with increasing activity and opportunity in the area of IP processing and distribution, and the management of IP-based media workflows,” explained Craig Newbury, director of sales and operations, UK and Ireland, who is heading the new team.

With roots in IT development engineering, Boyd has developed extensive experience in the field after previously filling the roles of senior engineer, technical sales manager and principal systems engineer at Snell.

Walker has worked as head of System Architecture and Delivery – Live Production and Infrastructure at Grass Valley, and also served at Snell, in roles including chief architect of Live Production and Infrastructure, engineering group manager, modular engineering manager and principal design engineer.

Prior to his move to Lawo, Hough worked for Vitec Production Solutions. Having begun his work life as an editor, animator and graphic designer, he previously held commercial positions with Miranda Technologies and Pixel Power with global responsibilities.

Workman has accumulated 20 years in the professional audio industry, arriving at Lawo from HHB Communications/Scrub where he specialised in the supply and support of Avid Pro Tools and S6 consoles, Dolby Atmos systems, and Audio-over-IP solutions for film and TV audio post production.

Newbury said of heading the new team: “I am excited to be able to bring together this new group of talented individuals who not only offer an improved level of attention and customer service to our customers in the UK, but also bring the expertise and attitude focused upon customer success that is a hallmark of the Lawo family.”
