Audio inventor Bob Carver and home automation pioneer Bob Farinelli have come out of retirement to establish a new company called Bob Carver LLC.

After working closely together for more than five years at Sunfire, both men have decided to form a new company combining ‘unconventional thinking’ and ‘precision engineering’.

“We are American inventors with 75 years of design experience and 51 patents between us,” said Carver. “We are committed to building the highest quality audio products in the USA. These products will deliver years of listening enjoyment and stand among the few of the greatest amplifiers ever designed.”

Added Farinelli: “I am thrilled to be partnering with Bob Carver on this new adventure. He continues to amaze me with his vast knowledge of physics, electronics, acoustics and — most importantly — how to make products that just sound amazing.”

The first products to emerge from the new venture is a series of mono block amplifiers described as ‘the ideal for choice for serious music listeners’ in the custom installation and retail markets. The Cherry 180 is conservatively rated at 180 Watts rms into 8 ohms, the Black Beauty 305 Watts rms. Both were designed to drive the most demanding speakers. Each amplifier features a high impedance input, an automatic DC restorer circuit, a ‘set and forget’ bias adjustment, and low idle current which greatly increases output tube life.

From a listening perspective these amplifiers are said to provide a warm, rich sound with a ‘sumptuous and enveloping sound stage, a great front to back depth of field, and very tight, pin-point imaging within that larger acoustic.’

“Today’s discerning audiophiles listen to a wide variety of content and appreciate the warm, rich sound that vacuum tube amplifiers provide. Other products found in this price range simply do not compare in overall performance,” said Farinelli.
