Fuzion Ltd, the UK distributor of pro-audio lines including VUE Audiotechnik, Camco and MIPRO, and the manufacturer of Kelsey Cables, has gone into administration. MacIntyre Hudson LLP was appointed as administrator to the Surrey-based company – which would have celebrated 20 years in business last month – on 15 August.
Company records published at duedil.com show a gradual decline in Fuzion’s business from around 2006 onwards.
Fuzion “plc” was formed in 1994 by Tony Oates, Paul Ward and Gary Ashton, and became known as a distributor of major brands including Crown and Nexo. It lost both of those lines as Crown parent Harman consolidated its pro-audio brands in the UK (2004/5), and Yamaha acquired Nexo (2008). Ward left as a director in 2008; the company was restructured as Fuzion “ltd” in 2010. Ashton left the board earlier this year.
Former business director Matt Cook has taken up a sales manager role with Ateïs, the installation brand once distributed by Fuzion. He confirmed that other brands had been “scattered across the industry”.
Kelsey has been acquired by lighting specialist Optikinetics Ltd of Luton. Tony Torlini, former Fuzion sales director, was in the process of moving to the Bedfordshire office to take up the role of general manager for ‘Kelsey Acoustics’ when PSNEurope attempted to contact him.
A further statement from the administrator is anticipated.
