d&b audiotechnik pulls out of Prolight+Sound 2020

The company has cancelled its participation ‘due to the logistics of the new date’

d&b audiotechnik has pulled out of Prolight+Sound 2020, following yesterday’s announcement (March 4) that the show would be postponed until May.

Originally planned to take place from March 31 to April 3, Prolight+Sound yesterday announced that the event would be postponed until May 26-29 2020 due to ongoing concerns regarding the spread of Coronavirus across Europe.

It has now been revealed, however, that German loudspeaker giant d&b audiotechnik has cancelled its participation in the event altogether.

Speaking to PSNEurope, d&b audiotechnik global head of communications, Nicole Mehr, said: “After taking into consideration the logistics of the new date, including the quality of experience that d&b could deliver to partners and customers, we have decided not to participate in this year’s trade show.

“We apologise for any disappointment caused and hope the decision is understandable. We will reassess our participation in the event for next year, as we continue to regard these trade shows as an important pro audio industry gathering.”

A Tweet from the company also read: “With the announcement of Prolight+Sound moving to May we have decided we are unable to participate due to the logistics of the new date, including quality of experience for Partners and Customers. Apologies for any disappointment, we will reassess for next year. #pls2020”

Last week, fellow Germany-based company Adam Hall announced that it was pulling out of the show due to Coronavirus concerns. At the time, Prolight+Sound organisers claimed the show would still be going ahead as planned. It is not known yet whether or not the new dates will affect its decision, PSNEurope has contacted Adam Hall for comment.

It is unclear as to how the new dates will affect exhibitors’ ability to participate.
